Why This and Nothing Else?
Because I have seen and experienced what this world does to people.
I have seen the confusion that lives behind the confident smile. The grief that hides behind the anger. The hollow, aching emptiness that no amount of success, pleasure, or distraction has ever been able to fill — because it was never meant to be filled by any of those things.
I paint that.
I paint it because it's true. And I paint it because truth, however uncomfortable, is the only ground hope can actually grow in.
We have enough pretty art. Enough safe art. Enough art that decorates the walls of a burning world and asks us to admire the color.
I am not interested in that.
I know the dark places. The strange ones. The in-between ones that don't show up on anyone's highlight reel but are where most of us actually spend our lives — suspended between who we were and who we're terrified we'll always be.
I paint those places because I've been in them. And because I believe — with everything I have — that no place is too dark, too strange, too far gone for light to find it.
Something happened two thousand years ago that proved that once and for all. I'm still painting from the aftermath.
A man walked into death and came back out.
And that changes everything.
